Today we’re going to see how you can find low-competition keywords for your website. Let’s say you have a website, and you want your content to rank on Google. So if you create content with a random topic or keyword that already has a lot of competition, then there’s a good chance your content will never appear in the search results.
As there are bigger sites, which have already covered that keyword. So, to make your content appear in the search results,
You need to find a keyword that has low competition and create content for that keyword.
In this article, we are going to see how you can find low competition keywords for your website, which can be easily ranked on Google. So let’s get started.
Let’s find low competition keywords for our website.
First, If you don’t have a website or blog, we can help you to create one. To find low competition keywords for our site, we are going to do three steps:
- Find the keywords which people are searching for related to your website.
- Find the competition of the keywords given back to you
- Pick the Keywords with Low Competition.
Finding the keywords
So to find the keywords, let’s open a new tab and go to keyword.io. This is the site that is going to help us find our keywords.
Now here, enter your website’s topic. We will be using PETs as an example here. Since the website and niche that we will be using as an example here is about having a pet, we’re going to enter “Best Pets for Kids” and then click on the Search button.
You can see that we have got a list of all the keywords that people search for related to our topic. These are the terms that people commonly use on Google.
Once you have found these keywords, we can go to the next step, which is to select the keywords for which you want to write the content. So just pick the topics which you can easily write about on your blog or your website by clicking the check button next to the keyword.
We’ve chosen the topics we desire, and as you can see, they have been added to this list.
Find the Keyword Competition
Once you have selected the keywords you want, you can go to the next step, which is to find the competition for these keywords. To find the competition for these keywords, we’re going to take two steps.
The first step is to create an account on an SEO tool called KeyWord finder.
Click the “Start 10-day Free Trial” button at the top right of the screen.
Then fill up these details. By entering your email and desired password and then clicking Create my Mangools Account and now your account is created. Remember to check your inbox and click the confirmation email sent to you. Click on the link on the email.
Once you have created the account, login to your account, take your mouse cursor to the top left of the screen and hover your cursor on SEO Tools, then click on KW Finder. The image nelow will give a better graphical explanation.
You will be greeted with a screen similar with the one below. Click on Go to App at the top right corner of the screen next to your account avartar.
You will see a different screen to what you have previously. CLick on the Import which is located at the upper left side of the screen. Here, you will be able to import several keywords to check the diffculty of their competition and pick the right keyword with high search volume and low competition.
Now, you will be able to research multiple keywords with ease, without the need to search one at a time.
You have two ways to import multiple keywords for research. You can either import via an already saved file (either in .csv or .txt format) on your PC that contains keywords you want to rank for by using the “Upload your list” section which is at the top.
You can either drag and drop or click on the space in the section to upload the file using your file browser uploader. Or you can copy and past these keywords
But, for the sake of this tutorial, we will copy and paste our keywords we already have in Keyword.io
To add the keywords, let’s go back to Keyword.io and then highlight all the selected keywords in our previous steps. Copy the highlighted keywords.
Then go back to Keyword Finder tab and paste the keywords in the second section where you have “…or write the keywords” and click on the Process Keywords to find the keywords competition against each other.
Now, you can see that we have the competition for each keyword.
So this number shows how difficult it is to rank for the keyword selected.
Now to get more information about this number, let’s click on the diificulty figure above. And now you’ll get this window, which shows you which keywords are easy to rank for, and which are difficult. To find a keyword that is easy to rank for, we need to find a keyword that has a difficulty of less than 30.
If you pick any keword that is higher than 30, you might have difficulty with traffic to your website This means if you create content for it, it is unlikely to rank on Google. Picking low competition keyword that is less than 30 is relatively easy to rank for. To get all low competition keywords, just click the Keyword Difficulty column here. And now you will find the low competition keywords at the top.
Okay, so once you get this, next, you need to look at the number of searches each keyword gets in a month. Here you can see the keywords that has low search volume, meaning very few people are searching for it.
This means if you write content for keywords with high search volume but with low competion on your website, it is easier to rank and can attract more people to your website.
Once you select a new keyword. In order to rank your site for this keyword, you need to write content on your website for this keyword.
And now, this content will be posted on your site. Now to see how it looks, let’s click View Post.
And as you can see, we have got content here. So now we have successfully found a low competition keyword and have created a useful piece of content around that keyword. Once you publish your content, Google will assess your content to see if it is useful or valuable to the user who searches for that keyword.
If Google thinks your content is suitable for this keyword, it will rank your site and you will start getting visitors to this blog post.
